FROM A FAN'S POINT OF VIEW

Sometimes we get so caught up in chasing the dream that we lose focus and appreciation for the steps we have already taken and the good things along the way. It's called 'losing your ground in life'. We all should know our own definitions of success and never lose sight of that.

When talking with Patrick Gibson it doesn’t take long to see that he not only has a grip on his music career, but lives every day savoring the steps of success each performance brings. If you ask him when he thinks he will have “made it”, he will tell you as far as he is concerned, you never “make it all the way” in this profession. It just keeps going. His fans think he has already “made it”. But to Patrick, he’s just moving to a new level, giving his all to every audience and staying true to the people and music he loves.

It doesn’t matter if he is doing an acoustic show or playing with a full production band, audiences are captivated with his level of energy. He prides himself on the consistency of a quality performance no matter how big or small the crowd.

What about being a ‘super star’? He says if that is in God’s plan for him, it will happen. He is confident he can sell out a local show saying, "after all, isn’t that what makes a successful performance?" Indeed.

How does he explain the obvious enjoyment in playing to a small group? Anyone that has ever played anywhere knows this is the hardest thing to do and do well. It never affects his performance or persona. They play like they are playing a sold out audience every time. This is what true artists are made of. The stuff that makes them the same real deal on the tailgate or on the stage.

If you are wondering what this guy is made of, what drives his music, check out some of the lyrics from “Florida Cracker Country Boys” …

TWIN FIDDLE AND A STEEL GUITAR
BETTER COUNTRY MUSIC THAN YOU'LL HEAR IN THE BARS
BEAT-UP BOOTS ON A FRIDAY NIGHT
PANTS BLAZIN UP STANDING IN THE FIRE LIGHT
TO COOL IT ON DOWN, WE JUMP IN
TO LAKE HANCOCK LET THE PARTY BEGIN!

TAILGATE DROPPED DOWN MUSIC PLAYIN LOUD
EVERYBODYS DANCIN TO THE COUNTRY SOUND
FOUR WHEEL DRIVES AND ATVS
MAMMA CALLS US CRAZY LIKE WE GOT A DISEASE
CARETAKER KNOWS WE AINT DOIN NO HARM
FLORIDA CRACKER COUNTRY BOYS IS ALL WE ARE

His songs are a reflection of his life, which is a continual source of inspiration driven by his love and appreciation of the fans who can easily relate to the things he writes about …and the gal he calls the love of his life, Rebecca. Patrick views the music itself as a living tonic. “Songs are … medicine for those times when you think there is just nothing left. The music always speaks the truth!”

His advice when asked: “Be true to what you know. Not what you think you know. If you keep yourself real, then it will really happen.” For Patrick Gibson, it has happened. In fact, his loyal fan base reminds him every time he hits the stage that success is measured one performance at a time.

Find out more about Patrick on the FloridaCrackerCountryBoy.com web site as well as myspace.com/floridacrackercountryboy. There are links to buy his CD, which by the way has sold well over 3000 copies with no distribution of any means. Show dates are listed along with his bio and more. Check it out and watch for the new CD in the not so distant future.
